A WARM welcome is promised to all on Saturday at an open day of the newly renovated Malham Methodist Chapel.

A huge amount of renovation work has taken place at the 154 year old chapel over much of the past year, costing more than £300,000.

"The chapel got down to as few as three worshippers some weeks, and we wanted to help preserve it for future generations," said Malham resident Sally Essler.

The work to totally refurbish the building began at the start of June last year and regular Sunday services took place in the village hall while the church was out of bounds.

The open day on Saturday (March 23) will take place from 10am to 4pm.

There will be members of the Malham Chapel Development Group on hand to talk to visitors and explain the development and their vision for the future.

Th chapel is now accessible to all with a level access via a rear door, and the majority of the inside is also on the same level.
