A PUPIL of Water Street Primary School, Skipton, has been chosen as the town's new Gala Queen.
Eleven-year-old Poppy Reardon was chosen by a panel of judges at the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton. And selected as her attendants were Olivia Pitts, aged 10, a pupil at Christ Church Primary School, Teighan Stewart, 7, of Boyle and Petyt Primary School, Beamsley, and Kaise Bland, 7, of Greatwood Primary School.
Poppy will be crowned at this year's Skipton Gala on Saturday, June 8, and will lead the procession, which starts on Westmoreland Street at 1pm. The gala queen's duties also include representing Skipton Charities Gala at Colne and Silsden's galas, presentation evenings and laying a wreath on Remembrance Sunday.
Organiser Michelle Marren said: "This year it was exceptionally hard to make a choice, as there were so many talented young ladies.
"The judges' decision was extremely difficult, but they are all confident Poppy will make an excellent gala queen!"
