THE much acclaimed God’s Own Country is due to be screened on Sunday (March 31) at Settle Stories’ monthly Lazy Afternoon Film Club.

Written and directed by Francis Lee, from West Yorkshire, the film tells the story of Johnny Saxby, played by The Durrells actor, Josh O’Connor, and his time spent on his family’s remote farm in rural Yorkshire. Johnny copes with the frustration of his lonely existence with nightly binge-drinking at the local pub and casual sex. But when a handsome Romanian migrant worker played by Alex Secareanu - arrives to take up temporary work on the family farm, Johnny suddenly finds himself having to deal with emotions he has never felt before. And, as they begin working closely together during lambing season, an intense relationship starts to form which could change Johnny’s life forever. The film will be shown at The Joinery, behind Ye Ode Naked Man cafe, at 2pm. Tickets £5, including tea or coffee. Lazy Afternoon Film Club takes place on the last Sunday of the month.
