THREE Skipton Building Society colleagues have been celebrating after being recognised for their work in their communities and for helping others.

At the society’s annual awards ceremony, business analyst Jo Smith received the ‘Rachel Fawcett Building a Better Society’ trophy, Claire Chambers won the ‘Taking Ownership’ prize and Bev Ives lifted the ‘Customer Experience’ award.

Jo, who lives in Airton and has worked for the society for more than 40 years, has supported Malham Show for over 30 years, helped set up the Malham Safari Trail, organised the Santa’s Sleigh on Christmas Eve and contributed to the society’s ‘Miles for Memories’ fundraising event as well as many other Society activities over the years.

She said: “I’m very proud to receive this award in memory of Rachel Fawcett, who was an inspirational leader and encouraged us all to contribute to our communities.”

Regulation and policy consultant Claire, of Addingham, was nominated by three colleagues.

One nomination declared: “She is so passionate about our customers and she constantly delivers on our objectives.”

Claire moved to Yorkshire from Essex five years ago when her partner Richard started work at Leeds Bradford Airport.

She said: “We absolutely love the Yorkshire way of life and, in particular, the friendly people. After five years I am still blown away by this part of the country and could never imagine moving back down south.

“I was absolutely overwhelmed and so proud to win the award. I have been bombarded by colleagues congratulating me. Skipton Building Society is an amazing place for recognising colleagues’ efforts and hard work.”

Bev, who lives in Cowling and has two grown up children, was nominated by Skipton’s Head of Customer Contact Tom Girling, who said: “Bev offers consistently fantastic customer service when taking calls from customers.

“This year alone, at least five customers have taken the time to contact our chief executive to praise her helpfulness, positive personality and all round great service.”
