A POPULAR annual series of walks is being launched next month.

South Craven Walking 4 Health is again staging a programme of 20 weekly evening walks, which will run through the summer.

Each walk generally lasts for about one-and-a-half hours, and is suitable for people of all abilities.

The leaders are all trained volunteers.

“This is the eighth year of these walks – which are ideal for people who are in sedentary jobs or want a break from the stresses of work,” said a spokesman.

“The walks go to many of the villages in South Craven and follow some lesser-known paths.”

The programme includes a solstice walk in mid June, which will be followed by a pie and peas supper, and it will culminate with a mystery walk in August.

People wishing to take part in the first walk, on Wednesday, April 10, should meet at Glusburn Institute Community and Arts Centre for a 6.30pm start.

South Craven Walking 4 Health is among 350 schemes in England, supported by the Ramblers, that organise regular short walks aimed specifically at people whose health would benefit from some physical activity.
