A PETITION calling for plans to close Clapham Primary School to be dropped has been handed in to North Yorkshire County Council’s headquarters at County Hall, in Northallerton.
The document was handed to Stuart Carlton, corporate director of children and young people’s service by Jill Gates, a member of Clapham Community Action Group and school governor Maria Farrer.
Jill Gates said: “The community and the school governors have presented a well-researched case which supports the long-term sustainability of the Church of England primary school in Clapham.
Earlier this year the county council announced a consultation was to take place which ended last week.
The education authority is collating all the responses and will make a decision in June.
