A YOUNG walker taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh Awards programme had to be stretchered to her waiting party near Settle after aggravating an injury.
The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation was called out to the fells above Stockdale Farm, Settle, at around 5pm on Saturday, April 6.
A spokesman said the team was called to a walker, a girl aged 16, with suspected back and hip injuries.
On speaking to the group leader, the controller established that the casualty had not sustained a fall or injury, but had aggravated a pre-existing condition and having sat down to rest, was unable to mobilise again.
A team was called out to assist the casualty. Once located, she was placed on a stretcher and carried down to Stockdale Farm, where she was assessed by a team doctor.
Having confirmed that the casualty did not require hospital treatment, she was assisted into the D of E party’s minibus to return with her group.
