CRAVEN members of Slimming World have raised around £4,000 for Cancer Research UK by together shedding hundreds of stones in weight.
After slimming down, the Skipton and Settle groups have donated 160 sacks to the Skipton charity shop of no longer wanted clothes, shoes and accessories as part of the Big Golden Slimming World Clothes Throw.
The annual ‘clothes throw’ campaign is gold this year in celebration of Slimming World’s 50th anniversary.
As well fundraising, the partnership between Slimming World and Cancer Research UK aims to raise awareness of the links between obesity and cancer, and since 2012 the partnership has generated more than £12 million. Consultants Sarah Rishworth who runs the Skipton Slimming World groups and Maxine, Roberts, who runs the Settle group together said: “We can’t quite believe how many bags we managed to collect. We knew our members were amazing but we didn’t expect such an incredible level of effort.”
