FRIENDS of Skipton man George Murray - the first treasurer of Craven District Council - helped him celebrate his 90th year with a musical evening.
His friends and fellow members of the music for fun group of Craven University of the Third Age (U3A), took over St Andrew's Church Hall for a special celebrator ceilidh.
More than 80 people went along to wish the founder member of the music group, who is also one of Skipton’s well-known, distinguished and ever enthusiastic senior citizens, a happy forthcoming birthday.
Guests danced vigorously to the Buttered Peas Ceilidh Band, joining in the sing-along of George’s favourite songs and there was even a newly composed song about him to the tune of Ilkley Moor Bah’tat.
There was plenty to eat, with a 'bring and share' supper, and dancing went on until late to see George through to his birthday in August.
