CRAVEN District Council says it is investigating after a large amount of fly-tipped rubbish was reported dumped at Boss Moor, near Bordley.

The several bin liners of assorted rubbish, floor covering and plastic containers were photographed and shared on social media by Mark Penny who tweeted: 'disgraceful, flytipping on Boss Moor, near Bordley, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales'.

Paul Ellis, director of services at Craven District Council, said: “We are aware that there is a large amount of fly-tipped material on Moor Lane in Hetton and we are investigating this alongside North Yorkshire Police.

"If there is any evidence to bring a prosecution then this will happen in due course. Once the material has been investigated thoroughly for evidence, we will then be able to remove it. If anyone has any information about this fly-tipping or any other environmental crime, please contact us on 01756 700600."

He added: "Fly-tipping is a serious criminal offence which carries a fine of up to £50,000 or an offender can even be sent to prison.”
