CYCLIST Gemma Towell is hard in training as she gears up to tackling the National Three Peaks Challenge next month.

Gemma, 41, from Cowling, who works as a production co-ordinator for Whitakers Chocolates, in Skipton, is running each of the national peaks and cycling in between each one to raise money for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

She said: "During May spring bank holiday week I will be aiming to complete the 485 miles from Fortwilliam Scotland to Llanberis Wales in under five days with the support of my husband, Peter, and our three dogs in the van.

"After a sketchy start to my training year due to the flu and a chest infection I am fighting my way back to fitness to hopefully complete this challenge.

"With family and friends suffering every day it is important to keep Sue Ryder's hospices open. Every day Manorlands needs to raise £9,000 just to keep running, so please help if you can. Every penny counts, even if it is just a penny."

Gemma has opened a fundraising page and the total is already at £430.
