BRAVE walkers put their best feet forward for a charity blaze of glory - by striding over hot coals.

Thirty-four people, some from as far afield as London, Rochdale and York, arrived at Skipton Rugby Club to take part in the firewalk, organised by local charity Geordie Jim's Boys.

And around 50 spectators saw all of the walkers cross the coals without mishap.

Jim Thompson, who founded the charity, said the event should have raised around £2,500 when all cash had been collected.

He said: "The firewalk was prepared by the Fundraising Firewalk Association, who did a wonderful job. "Thanks have to go to Wilmot Skips, Chamley's Pies and Moss Side Kennels for their support - not forgetting Mike Beech of Skipton Rugby Club for help with the organisation.

"Funds raised by Geordie Jim's Boys go in the main to Movember UK and Prostate Cancer UK."

Jim founded Geordie Jim's Boys after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer in 2012.

In 2015 he was given less than 12 months to live, but was offered the chance to join a drug trial later that year and says he is "still going strong."
