SETTLE Stories will be hosting award winning storyteller Dominic Kelly and folk musicians Bridget Marsden and Leif Ottosson with The Big Blind on Sunday, April 28.
The audience will be in for a treat, with both storytelling and music from the trio as they re-imagine the ancient tale inspired by fairy tales from across the globe.
The story follows a boy standing on the shore of a lake - behind him is all he has ever known, while ahead there is a chance for love, but with a higher chance of death.
He has had a happy, sheltered life, but his father gambled away that life. Te debt cannot be paid in money, and it will not be his father who pays up.
Dominic, Bridget and Leif have been touring the production across the country and now, it is Settle Stories turn to welcome Dominic Kelly back to the town.
Combining storytelling and music the piece interweaves versions of the ancient tale from Norway, Scotland, Ireland and India with contemporary Scandinavian folk music. The
performance explores the consequences for the young when older generations fail to make adult decisions. The Big Blind will be performed on Sunday, April 28 at 3pm. Tickets £10 for adults or £6 for under 18s from : settlestories.org.uk/thebigblind or call 05603 845693.
