THE annual South Craven District Scouts St George’s Day Parade will take place in Skipton on Sunday (April 28).

The parade, involving Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts from across the district will form up in the car park next to Skipton scouts headquarters, ‘The Dump’ off Newmarket Street, from around 2pm.

Setting off at 2.30pm the parade will march onto Brougham Street and Newmarket Street and then up the High Street to Holy Trinity Church for a special service and ‘renewal of promises’ scheduled to start at 3pm.

Kerry Wheelwright, events and tourism manager at Skipton Town Council, said: “To allow the scouts to parade safely through the town there will be some road closures for short periods between 2.30pm and 3pm. If you’re in the centre of town at that time, you might be delayed a little. We would ask drivers to support our young people and be patient. This is an important annual event for South Craven Scouts – and we’ll get the traffic moving again just as soon as we can.” Anyone is welcome to attend the service in Holy Trinity.
