AN appeal against the refusal of planning permission at a property in Threshfield has been lodged with the planning inspector.
The planning application was for permission for the conversion of an existing garage to provide additional living space, erection of a single storey side extension and the addition of a first floor extension over an existing single storey extension.
The application site is at Nethercroft, Monkholme Lane, Threshfield.
The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority said its reasons for refusal were that, the scale of the extension, design, and prominent siting on the rear elevation would result in significant harm to the character and appearance of the property by obscuring the original character and appearance of the building and landscape setting.
The authority also stated it had not been clearly demonstrated that the development could be carried out without causing significant harm to the mature and prominent trees on the front boundary of the site, in particular those in the north east corner.
The appeal is to be addressed by way of written representations which have to be made to the inspector by May 13.
