SINGER songwriter Nel Begley is due to perform at the monthly gin and Jazz evening at Alexander’s Bar and Kitchen in Skipton on Tuesday May 7.

Nel, who performs all over the UK and overseas is well known in Jazz circles having headlined at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho, as well as appearing alongside twice Grammy nominated Rene Maria and Tony Bennet’s former pianist, Bruce Barth.

She said: “Alexander’s is the perfect setting for an evening of Jazz and I am looking forward to singing a range of classics from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. The evening should have a lovely relaxed feel as it will just be me and my vocals accompanied by well-known Jazz guitarist, Harry Orme.”

Harnessing the ethos of a 1920s speakeasy, Alexander’s Gin & Jazz has become an established informal and free monthly event, allowing drinkers and diners to enjoy live music from prominent Jazz artists, including Tom Seals, Jimmy Stuttard and Maria Watton-Graham.

Gin and Jazz starts at 7pm with the music starting at 8pm.
