WEST Bowling’s new right-wing partnership of siblings Liam and Louis Fraser saw the band of brothers each post a touchdown on their home debut against Beverley in the 42-26 Kingstone Press National Conference Division Two success at Emsleys Rec.

Bowling made all of the early running and were rewarded when wingman Ellis Bentley dived over in the corner too far out for stand-off Harry Williams to add the extras.

Loose forward Olly Bartle spun out of three tackles to plant the ball over the whitewash and this was soon followed by a splendid effort from centre Louis Fraser, who used wingman Liam as a foil to sprint his way to the chalk from 30 metres out.

Williams slotted over one of the conversions against the wind to put Wests 14-0 to the good but they were reduced in numbers when hooker Danny Halmshaw was sent to the sin bin for kicking the ball away when the visitors looked certain to score.

Beverley took the tap and run penalty and flashed the ball out wide to put centre Ben Atkin over and wingman Josh Poskitt made sure of a full reward before Bowling had the final say of the half 16-6 with a Williams penalty on the whistle.

The best try of the match came when pack leader Richard Lumb and Halmshaw combined to produce a slick offload which saw the hooker fall an agonising metre short but his swift play-the-ball allowed full back Ben Heald to dive to the posts.

Beverley reminded the hosts of their undoubted credentials when second row forward Alex Calvert side-stepped his way to the line before Heald glided in for his brace from a set scrum.

The tit-for-tat exchanges continued when the Hull side's winger squeezed in at the corner but they came unstuck at the restart when they put a grubber kick down the line which Liam Fraser instantly returned. He won the race to collect it at pace en route to the sticks.

At 34-16 Wests looked to be home and dry yet the visitors were far from finished with a two-try burst to peg the tally back by 10 points.

However, Williams calmed any nerves when he took a peach of a pass from Lumb to scurry over and then took his tally to seven goals and a try with a penalty late into extra time.

Meanwhile, Bradford Dudley Hill were 18-14 winners at Askam on their first road trip for several games.

Neil Wall was man of the match for Hill, who are second in Division Two thanks to their fifth victory.
