IN 1964, this group of girls were members of Skipton’s St Stephen’s Church Irish Dancing Club and practised their routines at the function room of the Brick Hall Hotel - now The Woolly Sheep. The picture was submitted by Francis O’Brien, of Skipton, whose sisters Yvonne and Dianne are featured. The girls were tutored by Kathleen Lunny and are gathered together to perform on St Patrick’s Day at the Devonshire Hotel - now the Devonshire Inn - on Newmarket Street.
Back, standing, are Father Cornelius Lehane, St Stephen’s parish priest, Shirley Hindle, Linda Meagher, Yvonne O’Brien, Valerie Salkeld, Maria Raw, Dianne O’Brien, and tutor Kathleen Lunny.
Kneeling are Alison Meagher, Janice Tyson, Margaret Jennings, Ann Cockshott.
