FELL rescue volunteers successfully rescued a farm dog yesterday (Thursday) after it got stuck on Kilnsey Crag after trying to take a short cut home.
The Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) was called out at 4.30pm by police to help rescue the dog 'Swift' which was reported 'crag fast' by a local farmer.
A UWFRA spokesman said: "A small team went up to the crag and a team member abseiled down to Swift who was carefully placed in an animal bag and hauled to the top of the crag. Swift was happily reunited with a grateful 'mum'".
The owner later posted on UWFRA's Facebook page: "Thank you so much to the fell rescue for saving our precious farm dog, Swift, who decided to take the short cut home after a busy day's work and got stuck on the crag. You are amazing."
