THE annual Settle Saunter for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities is due to take place on Sunday, June 9.

Organised by Settle Rotary Club, last year’s event saw about 160 taking part, with some coming from all over the country, as well as home grown runners and walkers. Together, the entrants raised around £2,000 for Cancer Research and Settle Swimming Pool.

Those taking part can choose between a 10k race, or a half marathon, 13 miles, or full marathon of 23 miles. Entry on the day is £18 and £13 for junior and seniors. Those taking part will receive a free hot meal, and there all also be drinks and biscuits at checkpoints.

Registration at Victoria Hall, Kirkgate, is 7.15am for the full marathon; 8.30am for the half marathon, and 9.30am for the 10k route.

Previously, the saunter has raised money to build a school in Nepal, following the 2015 earthquake, Settle Scouts, the Cave Rescue Organisation, and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
