BIKES of various shapes and sizes will be going under the hammer next month at the Rotary Club of Skipton’s annual auction of bicycles.

Over the last few weeks, the rotary club has been appealing to people across Craven to donate their no longer needed mountain, road, and children’s bikes.

Those bikes in good condition will be auctioned at Skipton Auction Mart, at the top of Gargrave Road, on Sunday, June 9, while others in less than perfect condition are being passed on to the Margaret Carey Foundation for refurbishment before being sent overseas.

A club spokesman said: “There are some bikes that are virtually new, some that are much loved old racing bikes, some which could be a restoration project and plenty with many years life left in them.”

Viewing of the bikes on June 9 will be from 10am and the auction will start at 11am. There will also be cycling equipment on sale at the auction mart, which enjoys plenty of free parking. Details of the bikes to be sold can be seen on the website: skiptonrotary.org
