A VALUABLE community resource in Littondale is one of several projects to receive a grant from the Craven and Beamsley Trusts.

Amerdale Hall, in Arncliffe, hosts sports groups, choirs and youth groups as well as putting on entertainment such as theatre nights and horticulture shows.

It has now received £1,000 out of a total of £8,648 handed out by the trusts to several different organisations across Craven and Keighley.

A spokesman for the trusts said: "The popular hall is in in urgent need of repair and following consultation with dale’s households the management committee started to develop a sustainability review.

"The Craven Trust awarded a grant to pay for the costed plans, so that the committee and residents can concentrate on raising funds for the renovation itself."

In addition, Skipton Cricket Club has received £409 towards updating its dilapidated kitchen, enabling members to buy a new oven.

The Skipton based Craven Referral Unit received £980; Kelbrook and Sough Village Hall received £600, and St. Mary’s Church in Ingleton received £1,000.

The Beamsley Trust also gave funding to support the Craven Rent Bond scheme and three local people in need.

Grants were also awarded to St. Michael and All Angels’ Church in Haworth, St. Anne’s Primary School in Keighley, the One in a Million Streetwise football project, and Highfield Community Centre and the Good Shepherd Centre, both in Keighley.
