PAUL Whitaker was last night (Tuesday) elected chairman of Craven District Council.
As first citizen of Craven for the coming year, his consort will be his partner, Marcia Turner, herself an honorary alderwoman of the authority.
Cllr Whitaker, who represents Skipton North, told the council's annual meeting that he was honoured and privileged to be elected chairman.
He was last chairman of the authority in 2010/11.
During his year in office he will support the Take Heart charity.
Cllr Chris Harbron was elected vice chairman of the authority.
Cllr Whitaker replaces Cllr Wendy Hull as chairman.
