A SILSDEN travel agency has celebrated the first decade of its journey.

Destination, based in Kirkgate, was set up in June 10 years ago by experienced travel consultants Shevaun Joy and Lisa Manditsch.

The pair this month hosted a birthday party for 140 of their clients at Herriot’s Hotel in Skipton.

Shevaun said: “We had a fantastic night with 140 of our clients coming along to celebrate with us We had a summer barbecue, a singer, DJ, sweet Ferris wheel, doughnut wall, drinks and dancing.

“Over the 10 years we have had tremendous growth on turnover and client database, and continue to grow the business with client events and marketing.”

Shevaun, who lives in Keighley and has two young children, has worked in the travel industry since leaving school in 1993. She studied at Bradford College and whas presented with a City and Guilds Excellence Award by Prince Philip.

She said: “I absolutely love travelling, it’s my passion. I love discovering new destinations and hotels I’ve been all over the world on holiday and also to travel events and conferences.”

Lisa, her fellow director of Destination, has worked in travel since leaving school in 1999. Living in Sutton, she has a young daughter.

She studied at Bradford College, and went on to gain travel trade qualifications as an Australia, Dubai, Ireland and Caribbean specialist.

She said: “I have travelled all over the world, and been on many ‘educationals’ through work, I have even been to Iceland, which was amazing – I even got a glimpse of the Northern Lights!”
