A MAN has died after a suspected fall from the top of Malham Cove.

Emergency services, which included Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation, were called at around 12pm on Saturday, June 8, after a report of someone having been seen falling from the top of the cove.

The ambulance service dispatched a road ambulance to the scene along with a rapid response vehicle, HART team and air ambulance,

They also called out the Cave Rescue Organisation.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called just before 12pm on Saturday, June 8, to reports that a man was injured at the foot of Malham Cove.

“The ambulance service attended the incident and sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man is believed to be aged in his forties and from the Manchester area.

A spokesman for the cave rescue organisation said: “When North Yorkshire Police’s formalities had been completed, CRO members searched the top of the cove for any property or evidence, then carried the deceased to a team vehicle and drove down to Town Head Farm.

Police said an investigation into the circumstances of the death of the man is ongoing.

No further details into the investigation have been released at this time.
