RAIN made another unwelcome appearance and cause widespread disruption across the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League.

But despite the truncated programme, Woodlands managed to extend their lead at the top by a further two points to 33.

They compiled a score of 265-6 and had Undercliffe in trouble at 10-2 when the heavens opened and the game was abandoned.

The highlight of the Woodlands innings was a second-wicket stand of 136 between opener Sam Frankland (89) and Kiwi Brad Schmulian (78). Craig Wiseman was the pick of the Undercliffe bowlers with 5-95.

Second-placed Hanging Heaton swiftly reduced Bradford & Bingley to 25-4 at Bennett Lane with Tom Chippendale (5-56) doing the early damage.

A fifth-wicket stand of 120 between Ed Brown (59) and Kyme Tahirkeli (55) steadied the ship for Bradford & Bingley as they made 172-9 in 46.5 overs before the rain came. David Stiff picked up 3-39.

A tight finish looked in prospect at New Farnley where the home side were 38-3 after bowling out Cleckheaton for 93 in spin friendly conditions.

Luke Jarvis continued his good form with 6-15 for New Farnley, while fellow left-arm spinner Andrew Deegan replied with 3-17 for Cleckheaton.

Townville’s attempts to overhaul Pudsey St Lawrence’s score of 113 all out in 10 overs met with disappointment.

Despite the bold efforts of Harry Warwick (43) they finished on 83-7 after Steve Watts (4-22) and Richie Lamb (3-35) ensured there was a steady loss of wickets.

St Lawrence were undone by the spin of Jack Hughes (6-23) when they batted first. Young opener Archie Scott (40) was the only batsman to look at ease.

Farsley also found batting tricky when they took first knock against bottom team Methley. Ryan Cooper (41) and James Logan (41) provided the bulk of their side’s 131-9 before play was halted. Skipper Grant Soames was the pick of the bowlers with 4-19.

Lightcliffe’s batsmen were in form again as they made 224-5 in their 50 overs against Wrenthorpe before play was abandoned. Opener Alex Stead led the way with 52, while Yasir Abbas (47), Christian Silkstone (47no) and Suleman Khan (33) continued the good work.

Meanwhile, in the Conference, leaders Sandal were fortunate to avoid their first defeat of the season against Windhill & Daisy Hill.

Sandal were in trouble on 85-9 when play was abandoned.

Shoaib Iqbal (6-39) and Maz Bhatti (3-20) had Sandal on the ropes when they replied to Windhill & Daisy Hills 132.

Matt Westwood (38) top scored for Sandal while Sam Noden (3-38) proved to be their best bowler when Windhill & Daisy Hill batted first.

Brighouse were another side frustrated by the rain when they looked to be in a strong position.

Naveed Akram (33) helped Brighouse to make 127 before Rikesh Tendelkar (5-15) reduced Gildersome & Farnley Hill to 38-5.

Zahid Tarvas, of East Leeds, was the day’s only century maker with 112 as they made 104 against Rodley. He hit 10 sixes and six fours to help his side to 194.

Lachlan Roche impressed with 5-26 for Rodley who made 11-0 in three overs before the rain arrived.

Syed Shah Bukhari (5-25) and Paul Cooper (3-54) helped Heckmondwike & Carlinghow to bowl out Oulton for 108.

There was only enough time for Heckmondwike & Carlinghow to reach 11-0 after three overs.
