THE Armed Forces Flag will be raised at Skipton Town Hall on Monday as a special ceremony to mark the commemoration takes place.
There will be a parade from Otley Street by around 30 soldiers from the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery from 10.50am, followed by ex-servicemen.
The flag will then be raised at the Town Hall at 11am in front of veterans from the Royal British Legion.
The Craven District Council chairman, Councillor Paul Whitaker, will host the event, which will coincide with similar ceremonies across the UK.
A week of celebrations will conclude on Sunday, July 7, coinciding with Sheep Day in Skipton. The flag will be lowered at 4pm.
Councillor David Ireton, Craven District Council’s Armed Forces Champion, said: “We’re proud to have the Yorkshire Gunners parading in the town once again to mark the raising of the flag.”
Skipton High Street and Otley Street will be closed to traffic for a short time on Monday morning.
