STUBBORN knots caused a slight delay in this morning’s proceedings as Armed Forces Day commemorations took place outside the town hall.
The Armed Forces Flag did eventually get raised after it was blessed following prayers by Reverend Roger Lowens.
Around 30 soldiers from the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery marched from Otley Street to the town hall, led by a drum and bag pipes.
They were followed in quick succession by members of the Skipton branch of the Royal British Legion.
will be raised at Skipton Town Hall on Monday as a special ceremony to mark the commemoration takes place.
Craven District Council chairman Councillor Paul Whitaker hosted the event which was rounded off with refreshments at Holy Trinity Church. Town mayor Councillor Peter Madeley was also present.
A week of celebrations will conclude on Sunday, July 7, with Sheep Day in Skipton.
The flag will be lowered afterwards at 4pm.
