THREE Hong Kong university students have been gaining an insight into the work of Keighley social housing group Incommunities.

The trio has been on a nine-day visit to the area, shadowing staff and discovering more about the group's services and investment in young people through its learning and development programmes.

Yilin Zhang, ShuPeng Luo and Jie Zhao are all post-graduate students at the City University of Hong Kong, working for a masters in housing studies.

"The visit is proving invaluable in finding out more about the different way housing services are provided and we’re also learning about the impact of national government policy on Incommunities’ work and their customers," said Yilin.

"It’s also been great to learn more about the GEM programme, which helps young graduates like ourselves build successful careers in housing."

Incommunities’ group chief executive, Geraldine Howley, said the visit further developed international links with sector partners and academic bodies.

"We've been delighted to host these international students and share with them the UK housing approach and how we deliver our services locally," she added.

"The students have a lot of knowledge of housing policy and practices in Hong Kong and were very interested to learn more about how we do things in the UK."
