MUSICALS through the years are the theme of the next production from Skipton Musical Theatre Company.

The group this Tuesday began rehearsals for their 2019 production Past & Present – A Musical Theatre Showcase which will feature well-known songs.

The show will be presented at the Black Horse pub in Skipton on October 25 and 26 including performances from the Northern Dance Centre.

Secretary Neil Hellewell said: “We are keen to encourage new members to come along and discover the joys and delights of performing in a musical theatre company. Members of the society have contributed to an online blog highlighting the pleasures and achievements they have got from performing on stage.”

Weekly rehearsals are in the upstairs function room at the Black Horse, High Street, Skipton, and Neil said anyone wishing to get involved or simply find out more would be made more than welcome.

Skipton Musical Theatre Company describes itself as an inclusive creative community who love to perform, sing and dance, as well as nurturing talent.

The group, previously known as Skipton Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society, started out in 1925 with the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera The Pirates of Penzance. Usually the group performs a musical each October, in recent years at Skipton’s Auction Mart Theatre.
