PENDLE mayor Cllr Ken Hartley has launched his Mayor’s Commendation Awards for any person or organisation which has gone that extra mile in the district.
Cllr Hartley said: “Every day people and organisations are doing some wonderful work and make an extraordinary difference in Pendle. This very often goes unrecognised.
“I’ve launched the Mayor’s Commendation Awards so that we can change this and say a big thank you to those who go the extra mile and make an outstanding contribution.”
The categories are: Young Person Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Community Involvement Award, Business, Industry and Commerce Award, Environment Award, Contribution to art and culture and sport.
The deadline to nominate a person or organisation for the inaugural awards ceremony is Thursday, September 12.
A ceremony will take place on Thursday 17 October 17.
