A west Cumbrian has reopened after a car crashed into the front of a house.

The B5295 Keekle Terrace at Cleator Moor had been closed since before 12pm today.

The car had rolled onto its side after colliding with a skip and the front window of a property.

Officers were called at around 11.30am this morning (July 17) after a Land Rover hit a building.

The driver, a man, 84, was not seriously hurt but was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven to be checked.

Nobody inside the property was hurt.

One neighbour who lives on Keekle Terrace said he had slept through the crash.

Mr Smith said: "I just came out and it was there. It's taken out the front of the house. I don't know how it's done it.

"It must have been going some hell of a speed. It's obviously hit the skip, it's flipped and went into the house.

"I think they were doing all the checks first because the gas is at the front of the house.

"It's an old woman who lives on her own at the house. It's just a shock. I hope she's ok.

"At the same time it will make people realise how busy this road is. There's always people speeding."
