THERE are a number of activities taking place at Craven Leisure over the summer holidays to keep the children occupied.

These include a Family Swim offer for £10 between 9am and 11.30am Monday to Friday, Spike Island inflatable sessions every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1-2pm and 2-3pm, one-day sports camps run by Coach Gunn, and weekly swimming crash courses.

While work to refurbish Skipton Town Hall continues, the Craven Museum team will also be running “Craven Treasures” - family-friendly hands-on activities every Friday during the summer holidays, from July 26 to August 30.

Activities run from 10am to midday at the Hub in Skipton Town Hall and are free – there’s no need to book.

In each session children will get the chance to explore an exciting part of Craven’s history through special museum objects, and make their own treasures to take home.

Craven Museum will also be visiting Burton in Lonsdale Village Hall on Wednesday August 7 from 10am to midday, and Gargrave Village Hall on Wednesday August 28, from 10am to midday, for free drop-in craft events.

Skipton Town Hall will also be on tour, bringing a Quantum Theatre production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Gargrave Village Hall on Sunday August 4 at 7pm.

Shakespeare’s most enduringly popular comedy of love and intrigue, magic and mayhem, will be brought to life by family favourites Quantum Theatre in their wonderfully funny and exuberant production of the Bard’s classic. Tickets are £15 or £12 for concessions.

On Tuesday August 6, from 1.30pm to 4pm, the regular Town Hall Tea Dance with John Bowdler will be travelling to Bolton Abbey Village Hall. The Blackpool Tower Ballroom resident organist will be leading the afternoon with some fabulous classics.

Tickets are £8 and include unlimited teas, coffees, and cakes.

The Craven Museum Rural Roadshow is also continuing over the summer and will be visiting Kildwick & Farnhill Village Institute on Saturday August 10 from 10am to midday, and Cross Hills Library on Wednesday August 21 from 10.30am to 1pm.

The Rural Roadshows are a chance to see objects from the museum on tour around Craven, and for residents to bring their own objects and treasures to share their stories.
