AN Ermysted’s Grammar School student has proved his cyber savviness by taking top spot in a live final of the Yorkshire and Humber Matrix Challenge.
Sixty young people from across Yorkshire travelled to York Racecourse recently to take part in the challenge led and managed by the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Cybercrime Unit.
Over 9,100 young people took part in the Matrix Challenge online game which featured cypher, coding and steganography challenges, plus a section testing application of the Computer Misuse Act.
The top 60 scorers attended the final where they completed a number of challenging activities.
Jacob Newby of Ermysted’s Grammar School in Skipton took the top spot in the 11 – 14 years category.
Skipton Girls’ High School also made the final.
