GARGRAVE-based Craven Lawn Tennis Club is celebrating its140th anniversary this year and it was fitting that there was a record entry for its annual President’s Day event recently.

The eventual winners (pictured) were Joe Emmett and Janet Thompson who triumphed in a closely fought set after a tense tie break over Jordan Hudson and Lynda Yewdall.

The victory was sweet for Joe and Janet as they have been the runners-up in the previous three years so fully deserved their victory.

The club runs four mixed doubles, one men’s doubles and one ladies’ doubles league teams.

The mixed teams play in divisions 1, 2 and 3 of the Wharfedale League and the men’s and ladies doubles teams play in the Bradford Parks Leagues.

For those just wishing to get back playing, or meet new friends, we run social tennis all year round, weather permitting, on Sunday afternoons and on Tuesday evenings during the season.

Croquet members meet on Tuesday afternoons.
