One of the organisers of the Weston Rhyn family fun day fundraiser has thanked all those who came to support it.

The Rec Ground in the village was commandeered for the day on Sunday, July 14 as hundreds headed down to enjoy face-painting, football, archery, a maze for nerf gun players plus refreshments and a visit from West Mercia Police too.

Mary Walsh, who organised the day with her friend Thirzah Deakin, admitted she was delighted with all the support, from those who came attended to those who contributed on the day.

"There's two of us who organised it and we were given a grant from the Big Local Partnership for £500," said Mary.

"That paid for everything we needed for us to do it and we wouldn't been able to do it without them.

"St John's Church gave us free refreshments which is brilliant and it's great to see the community out there supporting our day.

"The thinking behind it was to do something for the community and to raise funds for the school.

"We've want to pay for trips for the pupils which would cost the school a lot of money per year, so we want to pay for things.

"But it really was good to see so many people here supporting the day."
