ROADWORKS on the A65 at Coniston Cold are due to come to an end towards the end of next week.

Northern Gas Networks has been on site for more than two weeks carrying out emergency repair work to a high pressure gas main.

A spokesperson said: “We’ve had to replace a sizeable portion of the old metal pipe, which is why we have had to make such a large excavation, and use temporary traffic lights.

“We expect to have completed all work, and have the road reopen, towards the back end of the week commencing July 29.

“We recognise that the delays are very frustrating for motorists, but this job had to be done immediately, to avoid surrounding homes from losing gas supply.

“The traffic lights are being manned from 7am-7pm, to keep the traffic flowing as efficiently as possible.

“We’d like to thank motorists for bearing with us while we complete this essential work.”
