THE devastated sister of a Southampton man who died in mysterious circumstances has made an emotional appeal for information which could help piece together the cause of her brother’s death.

Mark Lewis, 48, died in hospital after being found with serious injuries in a Southampton street.

A police investigation has since been launched, with officers treating his death as “unexplained”.

Now his sister, Sarah Lewis, has asked for members of the public to come forward with information, which could solve the mystery of her brother’s death.

Sarah, a mother-of-two, said: “We are desperate for anyone who saw Mark that afternoon or has any information which could help the police to come forward.

“We are desperate to find out what happened to him.”

The 42-year-old also paid tribute to Mark as a “caring and supportive brother”.

She said: “He was fabulous. He was a really good big brother.

“He has been my support since we were kids, always looking out for me.

“His death has left a huge hole in my life.”

According to Sarah, Mark grew up with four siblings in Hereford, near Wales, before moving down to Southampton in his late teenage years.

She said Mark had a passion for cooking and was employed as a chef, but also worked a variety of jobs across his working life, including on building sites.

Sarah said Mark loved Liverpool Football Club and was a “crazy about music”.

She added: “He couldn’t express himself very well , but he would always find a song to help him express his feelings.”

As previously reported in the Daily Echo, Mark, of Coleman Street, St Mary’s, was found in neighbouring James Street by two passers-by at around 7am on Tuesday, July 9.

He was described as being in a life-threatening condition by police at the time.

One of the passers-by, a man, called an ambulance after being flagged down by a woman.

Mark was taken to hospital, but has since died.

Police say they are currently treating his death as “unexplained”.

Officers investigating the circumstances surrounding Mr Lewis’ death are asking for anyone who was in St Mary’s, specifically the vicinity between Hoglands Park and James Street, on the evening of Monday July 8 and the early hours of July 9 to get in contact by calling 101 and quoting the police’s reference number, 44190238411.
