STEETON Primary School pupils enjoyed a Picnic in the Park.
The event – on the recreation ground adjacent to the school – was to celebrate the centenary of the land being donated to the parish by Fredrick Butterfield, of Cliffe Castle.
Families joined-in the picnic and there was a visit from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service mascot, Blaze Bear.
And Councillor David Mullen, who chairs Steeton-with-Eastburn Parish Council and the school governing body, presented the school with a copy of the original legal papers recording the land transfer.
Head of school, Kevin Wheeler, said: “The picnic was a great success – in fact, parents enjoyed it so much they asked that we do it more regularly.”
It is now planned to hold another at the start of the new school year.
