AN event staged at Airedale Hospital put the focus on staff.

The Steeton hospital held its annual employee health and wellbeing day.

And organisers have hailed it as a massive success.

There was a wide range of activities, including 50 interactive stands.

One of the top draws were three visiting alpacas – Titus, Teddy and Theo – from Thornwood, at Oxenhope.

Visitors had the chance to pet and feed them.

The Airedale Choir performed, and latest medical training technology was demonstrated by the Leeds University Time to Teach team.

Free food was provided by the Aagrah restaurant and Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream, sponsored by Sovereign Healthcare and the hospital staff lottery.

There was also a stand to encourage conversation about the effects of the menopause and how colleagues can be supported.

And free water bottles, from the EcoawAire sustainability group and staff lottery, were handed out to promote the importance of staying hydrated throughout the working day.

More than 600 staff attended the event.

Jo Farn, interim head of people and organisational development at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said the day was hugely successful and she paid tribute to all those involved.

“The theme this year was about looking after each other and creating a great place to work to achieve our goal of being a preferred employer for our local population,” she added.

“We know that looking after our employees means a better experience and care for our patients.

“It was a fantastic event, which showed our appreciation for the 2,500 employees who do their best for patients every day. A big thank-you goes to colleagues for attending and to the organisers and exhibitors who contributed.”
