A ‘TWIN-tracked’ application to build a single, three bed detached home on a residential development site off Green Lane, Glusburn has been approved by Craven planners.

Last month, Craven District Council’s Planning Committee said it would have approved an identical application had the developer, Skipton Properties not taken it to appeal on the grounds of non determination in the given time.

Last week, the same committee approved the resubmitted application, despite being urged by the ward councillor to visit the site first.

Cllr Philip Barrett said given the complex history of the site, which had originally been for 74 homes, later reduced to 49, he felt a site visit would have been useful.

He said he had requested such a visit ahead of the first application decision, but that it had been turned down, and he had been unable to attend the last meeting on July 1 when it was discussed.

He felt a site visit, with the application area pegged out for members to see would have been useful.

But planning manager, Neville Watson reminded members they had already said at the earlier meeting they would have approved the application, had they been allowed to determine it, had it not gone to appeal, and carrying out a site visit now would send out a message that could lead to the developers continuing with the appeal.
