NEARLY 400 people took part in a trail run in support of Manorlands.

Runners of all ages tackled a testing route around the Bolton Abbey estate.

Participants could choose from a 10k or 5k course.

All proceeds from Sunday’s event will go to the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice. It is not yet known how much was raised.

Organisers said they were delighted with the success of the day – and that feedback had been positive.

“It was a beautiful day – we were very lucky with the weather,” said Manorlands community fundraiser, Molly Ralphson.

“Many of the runners commented on how much they’d enjoyed the event. There was quite a big hill towards the end, and people said that while it was tough, it was also one of the most scenic routes they had taken on.”

All participants received a medal, plus fruit donated by Keelham Farm Shop.

Alex Hardie, from main sponsor AEH Electrical Contractors, handed out the medals.

The first 10k runner home was Lee Athersmith, in 40 minutes 50 seconds, and first woman finisher was Sarah Tolkin in 51:34

In the 5k, first home was Rachel Bailey in 23:36. First male finisher was Joseph Lawson, in 25:57.

The event was staged in conjunction with Ilkley Harriers.

Molly thanks everyone who supported the event. She added: “I’d like to say a big thank-you to the sponsors, to the Bolton Abbey estate, to Ilkley Harriers, to all the volunteers and of course to everybody who took part and helped make the day such a success.”

The next Manorlands fundraiser is Rock the Castle and Proms at the Castle at Cliffe Castle Park, Keighley, on Saturday. Visit sueryder.org/support-us/fundraise/events for more details.
