A NIGHT of music and songs is set to strike a chord with a children’s charity.

Young people from Lothersdale are taking to the stage for a fundraising extravaganza.

All those performing in the Young at Heart event either live, or have lived, in the village.

A wide range of material will be performed by the young people.

Proceeds from the event – at Lothersdale Village Hall on Saturday, September 14 – will go to the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.

There will be a bar and raffle, with a host of prizes donated by businesses.

A spokesman said: “The village has a lot of extremely talented young people and it promises to be a fantastic evening.

“There will be around half a dozen participants – ranging in age from about 12 upwards – who will perform several pieces they have chosen themselves, before coming together for a grand finale.”

Doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £5 for children.

They can be obtained from Raygill Fisheries in the village, or from Peter and Jane Wallbank on 01535 637251.

The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, based at Leeds Children’s Hospital, covers the whole of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. It provides support to the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit.

A spokesman said: “Around 450 babies, children and adults from these regions need open heart surgery every year. We aim to ensure these patients have the best possible care and help their families in whatever way needed.”
