A SKIPTON woman has embarked on a new career teaching yoga after quitting her old job at the age of 60.

Sheila McFee took on a Vinyasa Flow yoga teaching course at Yoga Hero in Leeds run by her own daughter Holly Hird and Angela Jervis-Read and is now a fully qualified teacher with her own ‘Plum Yoga’.

Sheila says she has always enjoyed yoga as a way of relaxing and relieving the stress of work, and is now keen to pass the benefits on to others.

She says her classes, held in Skipton, are for everyone, but she particularly enjoys teaching beginners and older women.

“As we get older, it is more important than ever to look after ourselves. Yoga can help build physical strength and flexibility and relieve tension, supporting our mental health. I’ve designed Plum Yoga classes, courses and workshops to create balance and positive change for people of all ages and abilities."

She is also working with Carers Resource on a beginners course, and Cancer Support Yorkshire in Skipton for a taster session.

Full details of all Sheila’s yoga classes, courses and workshops in Skipton can be found on the Plum Yoga Facebook page.
