AUSTWICK CoE Primary School has a new ‘learning space’ thanks to generous bequests and donations.

Looking out onto the fells, the new room features an interactive ‘smart’ board thanks to a donation from the Austwick Community Broadband Association. Bequests from the estates of Elaine Hardy and Barry Brook, both former residents, have also helped furnish the extension. Adjoining is a smaller room which can be used for meetings by the school council or even for individual music lessons.

Headteacher Jo Brookes said:‘Our pupils are already benefitting from the changes, which are even more appreciated given their ties to the community. Following on from the positive Ofsted report at the end of last term, it’s a great way for all of us to start the new academic year.’
