POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two people were injured in a car crash on a country road near Denholme yesterday.

The incident happened at 1.40pm on Old Allen Road at its junction with Tewitt Lane and Black Dyke Lane.

It involved a silver coloured Vauxhall Corsa and a black coloured Vauxhall Insignia.

A silver-coloured Vauxhall Corsa was travelling along Old Allen Road in the general direction of Black Dyke Lane when it was in collision with a black-coloured Vauxhall Insignia.

At the time of the incident the Insignia was travelling from Old Allen Lane towards Tewitt Lane.

A police spokesman said: “As a result of the collision a male passenger in the Corsa was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Another male was left with minor injuries.

"Any witnesses to the collision, to the movements of the vehicles immediately before the collision or anyone with dashcam footage, is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 962 of Sunday 15 September.”
