A CHILD has died after what police say was a ‘tragic accident’ at an address in Skipton.

The incident occurred at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, October 2, in the Skipton East district.

An eye witness who asked not to be named said there was extensive police and ambulance activity, including the air ambulance, in the vicinity of the address during the afternoon and evening.

Emergency services said they responded to the address to reports of a ‘serious injury of a young child’ who had been air lifted to Leeds General Infirmary and admitted to a specialist unit.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police has said today: “The injured boy sadly died in hospital on Sunday, October 6, and a report will be submitted to the coroner in relation to this deeply tragic accident.

“The media and the public are requested to respect the family’s privacy at this extremely difficult time.”

No further information about the nature of the accident has been disclosed by the police.
