CAVE Rescue organisation was called out to help three Three Peaks walkers who were lost on Ingleborough, on Saturday, September 28.

In the dark, the walkers’ one torch and two mobile phones had died and their third phone – the sole means of navigation – showed only 17 per cent battery.

North Yorkshire Police were able to establish that this phone was near the foot of the Swine Tail.

One team member set off from Newby Cote, to run up the hill, while three others took a team vehicle round to Nick Pot.

The trio was guided down the path to the team vehicle before being returned to their accommodation near Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
