A KIND and thoughtful six-year-old from Carleton is organising a Halloween party in her village with fun, games and activities to help disadvantaged children living in Africa.

Summer Cox, 6, with help from her mum, Hannah Cox, and her mum’s friend, Zoe Colledge, has organised the fundraising event to be held at Carleton Social Club on Friday, November 1, from 5.30pm.

Summer, a pupil at Carleton Primary School, had looked at a number of different charities to support in Africa.

In the end she chose Water Aid as she was aware everyone, especially children, needs clean water and water resources to survive.

She hopes to raise money for the cause by selling hot dogs and holding a raffle.

It is hoped that people and organisations will be able to help provide some of the raffle prizes for the draw and Summer’s mum and family friend Zoe will be delighted to accept them.

Partygoers of all ages will be encouraged to go dressed for the occasion and there will be special medals handed out for the best, scariest and funniest fancy dress outfit.

Prizes will also be given out during party dances and some of the fun activities will include the old Halloween favourite - apple bobbing.

Zoe said: “Summer chose to do this without anyone’s input.

“She is an inspiration to other children who love to help and raise money and awareness about the way other children sadly have to live.

“Summer has invited all of her friends and family from the school to join her on her amazing fundraising evening.”

Her mum Hannah added: “We are so proud of Summer,we really are.”
