POLICE have arrested three men, just an hour after a robbery took place in a post office in Skipton.

North Yorkshire Police received a report of robbery at Swadford Street Post Office at 1.22pm today.

A search ensued and a number of police vehicles were seen speeding along Keighley Road just minutes later.

With co-operation from West Yorkshire Police, the three suspects were caught at Junction 29 of the M62 at 2.24pm.

"It was a speedy response thanks to cross-boundary co-operation between two police forces," a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said.

He added that no weapons had been used in the robbery and there were no injuries reported by post office staff.

It is not yet known what was stolen in the incident.

The post office and adjoining Subway cafe was closed while investigations continued.
